Parsifal finds himself stranded on Land, ripped away from his friend Balder and powerless to stop Lady Vasille and the Wicked Ones. Fighting his way back to the Sea, he must contend with seething politics, inclement weather, an avaricious Duchess, a monstrous cockatrice, and a maniacal necromancer with a connection to both Parsifal's past and Lady Vasille's.
