The explosive first book in the multi-million selling Scottish crime fiction series.

Ten years ago, DCI Jack Logan stopped the serial child-killer dubbed 'Mister Whisper,' earning himself a commendation, a drinking problem, and a broken marriage in the process.

Now, he spends his days working in Glasgow's Major Investigations Team, and his nights reliving the horrors of what he saw.

And what he did.

When another child disappears a hundred miles north in the Highlands, Jack is sent to lead the investigation and bring the boy home. But as similarities between the two cases grow, could it be that Jack caught the wrong man all those years ago?

And, if so, is the real Mister Whisper about to claim his fourth victim?

A Litter of Bones is the darkly humourous debut crime thriller novel from Amazon number one bestselling author, JD Kirk, an exciting new voice in Scottish crime fiction. Perfect for fans of L.J. Ross, Ian Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and Stuart Macbride.

'A breath of fresh air in the crime fiction genre.' - L.J. Ross

'Gripping. Atmospheric. Chilling. A superb debut.' - Adam Croft

'A phenomenal novel.' - M.A. Comley

Narrator Angus King introduces Detective Chief Inspector Jack Logan, who is sent to the Scottish Highlands to investigate a child abduction similar to one he solved earlier. Logan is confident and tough but also vulnerable; his transition from Glasgow to the countryside is amusing. Listeners will meet his engaging and conscientious team and feel themselves to be in the middle of action involving grieving parents and insensitive media. King's tone and volume alter instantly when he portrays Logan's fury at a particular pedophile and his victims. Most moving is 7-year-old witness Finn Harris, whose youth and innocence contrast with the horror he experienced. King's accomplished delivery makes the story's setting a supporting character, and the often subtle, much needed humor contributes to a worthwhile and memorable listening experience. S.G.B.
