        TOGETHXR is a female sports media and apparel company founded by world-class athletes Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, Simone Manuel, and Sue Bird. Play It Forward marks their first venture into book publishing as another avenue to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion. This is a fascinating collection of 25 profiles and essays by multiple contributors that highlight a broad spectrum of female athletes from the far corners of the globe such as Afghanistan (mountain climbing), India (field hockey), and Jamaica (soccer). The book highlights expected issues such as ongoing Title IX legal battles and pay equality issues, as well as maternity rights, efforts to destigmatize menstruation, and the story of a refugee Paralympian. All-American Girls professional baseball player Maybelle Blair (who came out as gay at age 95), a transgender NFL Cheerleader, older retirees who discover a passion for swimming, and incarcerated women in a UK-based soccer program are reminders that sports can provide a welcoming community.
